Andhra Pradesh: 7 Killed As Bus Falls Into Canal

A bus hired by a marriage party carrying 37 passengers fell into a canal to avert a collision with another bus killing seven people and injuring 30 others in Andhra Pradesh.

A bus carrying a marriage party fell into a canal killing seven people and injuring several others in the early hours of Tuesday in the Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh. 

According to the reports, 37 people were on the bus who are all relatives, attended a marriage and were travelling from Podili to Kakinada as they hired a RTC bus from Ongole depot to attend a reception. 

Reportedly the deceased have been identified as Abdul Azeez (65), Abdul Hani (60), Shaik Rameez (48), Mulla Noorjahan (58), Mulla Jani Begum (65), Shaik Sabeena (35), and Shaik Heena (6).

The injured passengers were taken to the Darsi government hospital, reportedly.

Reports say that the accident occurred when another bus from the opposite direction came towards the marriage party bus, the bus driver of the latter hit a concrete block on the side of the road to avert collision and subsequently lost control and fell into a canal. 

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's office in an official release said that the CM has expressed grief over the accident and he has ordered the officials to ensure better medical care for the injured.
