Stones Pelted At Vande Bharat Express Train In Kerala, Third Incident In 3 Days

The incident, occurring near Vatakara, follows previous instances of similar attacks.

In a concerning recurrence of stone pelting incidents on trains in Kerala, a recent event saw miscreants target the moving Vande Bharat express, inflicting damage upon one of its windows. The incident took place just days after two other trains faced similar attacks in the northern Kannur district, amplifying worries about the safety of rail journeys in the region.

The incident involving the Vande Bharat express, which was en route from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram, unfolded near Vatakara between 4 PM and 4.30 PM. The impact resulted in the shattering of a window on the C-8 coach, sparking concerns among railway officials and passengers alike, acccording to PTI reports.

Remarkably, no injuries were reported among the passengers, as the damage was confined to the exterior glass pane. Television broadcasts captured the distressing scene, showcasing the severely damaged windowpane that had been hastily taped up from the outside.

This recent event follows closely on the heels of a similar occurrence just days prior, involving the Mangaluru-Chennai Superfast Express and Netravati Express. These two trains fell victim to stone pelting while traversing a stretch between Kannur South and Valapattanam in the same district. In both instances, the windowpanes of the AC coaches sustained damage, prompting heightened vigilance among railway officials.

These unsettling events are not isolated incidents, as the Vande Bharat express has been targeted by stone pelting on previous occasions since its launch in Kerala by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this year.
