India formally requests Pakistan to extradite Hafiz Saeed, founder of Lashkar-e-Toiba, over his alleged involvement in various terror attacks, including the 2008 Mumbai strikes.
In a formal diplomatic move, India has submitted an official request to Pakistan for the extradition of Hafiz Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), a designated terrorist organization. Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, confirmed the submission of the extradition request during his weekly media briefing.
The request, accompanied by specific documents outlining the charges against Saeed, underscores India's pursuit of justice for various terror attacks, including the notorious 2008 Mumbai terror strikes, in which Saeed is alleged to have played a significant role.
Bagchi, responding to a question during the media briefing, stated, "A request for extradition was sent recently." It is crucial to note that Hafiz Saeed is internationally recognized as a proscribed terrorist by the United Nations.
