Six books by Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were launched at the 46th International Kolkata Book Fair, which concluded on Sunday, a publisher said.
Taking the latest ones into account, a total of 128 books written by Banerjee, who is also the TMC chairperson, have been released in the past two decades, said Sudipto Dey of Dey's Publishing.
One of the books published this year happens to be the English translation of her poem compilation 'Kabitabitan'.
Other books released include 'Duare Sarkar Apnar Amar Pashe' (outreach programme initiated by her government) 'Amader Durgotsab' (our Durga Puja festival, written after UNESCO honour) and 'Amader Sangbidhan' (Our Constitution).
All of these books are in great demand --- the highest among these being the one on 'Duare Sarkar' with over 500 copies of it sold at the publishing house's book fair stall, Dey said.
A spokesperson at the stall of TMC mouthpiece 'Jago Bangla', said the newly launched books by Banerjee are in great demand, apart from the ones published in the past, with each title recording brisk sale.
Banerjee had said during the inaugural function of the annual fair that she writes books on the insistence of her friends.
"I find little time to write amid my hectic schedule. But whenever I scribble anything, my friends and colleagues insist that I should make a book out of it. People like Sudhangshu (Dey's Publishing owner Sudhangshu Dey) keep requesting me to finish my manuscripts on time," the CM had stated.
The TMC boss had said in the past that most of her expenses are borne out of the royalty she receives from books, with the opposition often taking a dig at her writing skills.
Governor C V Ananda Bose, at a recently held function, had complimented the CM for being a writer, poet and painter and drew parallels with personalities like Atal Behari Vajpayee.
In May last year, Banerjee was given the Special Bangla Academy award for her "relentless literary pursuits".
