Ahead of the Karnataka Assembly Elections, the Bengaluru Police seized Rs 1 crore cash from two men near the City Market area on Thursday afternoon.
Two men, identified as Suresh and Praveen, were en route from Jayanagar to Vijaynagar, with the unaccounted cash when their auto broke down. According to police, a traffic police officer approached the two individuals to inquire about their stalled auto.
On inspection, the police noticed suspicious behaviour and immediately alerted the SJP Park Station, according to a report by India.
On inspection, the duo said that the cash belonged to a private company. However, they failed to provide any substantial documents for the same.
In light of this, the police seized the cash and informed Income Tax officials about the seizure.
Weeks ahead of the assembly elections, as per the Model Code of Conduct, no one is permitted to move around with a huge sum of cash without any valid documents.
