The Rajasthan Assembly elections are scheduled for November 25 while in Telangana the elections are set for November 30 this year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP leaders convened a meeting at the headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi for the party's Central Election Committee meeting to discuss strategy and to finalize the candidates for the upcoming Rajasthan and Telangana Assembly polls.
The Rajasthan Assembly elections are scheduled for November 25 while in Telangana the elections are set for November 30 this year.
In attendance alongside Modi were Union Minister Amit Shah and the party president, J.P. Nadda. As of now, the party has not yet announced its candidates for 76 seats in the 200-member Rajasthan assembly elections scheduled for November 25. Similarly, for the 119-member Telangana assembly elections taking place on November 30, the BJP has disclosed its candidates for 53 seats.
Aiming to make a strong comeback in Congress-ruled Rajasthan and regain its foothold in BRS-ruled Telangana, where the Congress is also vying for a resurgence, the BJP has intensified its efforts.
Shah and Nadda have engaged in extensive discussions with party leaders from these states to finalize the list of potential candidates before the Central Election Committee makes the ultimate selections.
Notably, the BJP has fielded seven MPs in the Rajasthan polls and three in the Telangana elections. These assembly elections in five states, including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Mizoram, are viewed by many as a semi-final ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha elections in 2024, garnering significant attention from observers.
