Prominent wrestlers, including Malik, Vinesh Phogat, and Bajrang Punia, have come forward to accuse Singh of sexual harassment and intimidation.
BKU leader Rakesh Tikait has made startling allegations against the central government, claiming that it is shielding Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is currently facing serious allegations of sexual harassment. Prominent wrestlers in the country, including Malik, Vinesh Phogat, and Bajrang Punia, have accused Singh of engaging in sexual harassment and intimidation, as reported by PTI.
Tikait, a respected figure within the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), has asserted that the wrestlers who have bravely spoken out against Singh are being subjected to government pressure. He further accuses the central government of actively attempting to protect the BJP MP. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a three-day Kisan Mahakumbh event, Tikait emphasized that the decisions taken by the wrestlers and the committee leading the prolonged agitation will be supported by the influential Khap panchayats.
Highlighting the alleged bias, Tikait stated, "The Centre is busy protecting Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. It is a fact reflected in the charge sheet filed against him. When the government has made up its mind about saving someone, it has many ways to do so." He further asserted that the wrestlers had engaged in negotiations with the government, where they were promised action. However, due to the prolonged nature of the agitation, Tikait believes the wrestlers, who also hold government jobs, eventually reached a point of compromise, leading to the current situation.
