The Israeli military urged all Palestinians to leave Gaza City and head south on Wednesday, pressing ahead with a fresh offensive across the north, south and centre of the embattled territory that has killed dozens of people over the past 48 hours.

Sewri Court in Mumbai has sent the accused Mihir Shah to Police Custody till July 16. On Sunday, a BMW owned by Rajesh Shah, the father of the Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case accused, crashed into a couple in Worli. The couple - husband and wife - were hit by the speeding car. The husband - Pradip Nakhva managed to jump off the bonnet.
However, his wife - Kaveri Nakhva - did not survive the crash. As per police officials, CCTV footage shows that she was dragged over 1.5 kilometres and then run over twice by the car.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for home on Wednesday after concluding his visit to Russia and Austria, during which he held talks with the top leadership of the two countries and discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation.

According to United Nations: “Over the past 30 years, we’ve improved how we collect and use population data, leading to better health care and rights. However, marginalized communities are still underrepresented. This World Population Day, we focus on ensuring all groups are counted and visible, highlighting the importance of inclusive data systems to advance progress for everyone. Pakistan has announced it will extend the registration cards of nearly 1.5 million Afghan refugees after a senior UN official urged the country to halt its deportation plan.
The prime minister’s office said in a statement after the conclusion of a cabinet meeting on Wednesday: "The federal cabinet approved one-year extension of the validity of POR (Proof of Registration) cards of 1.45 million Afghan refugees. Their PoR cards have been expired on June 30, 2024. The extension has been granted until June 30, 2025."
The 32-member NATO expressed concerns on Wednesday over the deepening relationship between Russia and China.
"The People's Republic of China's (PRC) stated ambitions and coercive policies continue to challenge our interests, security and values. The deepening strategic partnership between Russia and the PRC and their mutually-reinforcing attempts to undercut and reshape the rules-based international order are a cause for profound concern," said the Washington Summit Declaration.
"We are confronted by hybrid, cyber, space and other threats and malicious activities from state and non-state actors," said the declaration issued by the heads of state and government participating in the meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) here during which it welcomed Sweden as its 32nd member country.
Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday denied reports claiming a terror attack on a security post in the higher reaches of Udhampur district, saying a sentry on guard duty opened fire as a precautionary measure on observing some suspicious movement.
The officials said the sentry fired a few rounds in the air around 8 pm and a search of the area was later conducted but nothing was found.
“A sentry opened fire as a precautionary measure upon noticing suspicious movement in the Sang area of Basantgarh. Contrary to circulating social media reports, there was no attack,” police said in a brief statement tonight.
It is advisable for the public to avoid spreading “unsubstantiated information”, police said. (PTI Inputs)

A 28-year-old gym owner was stabbed to death by a group of men in northeast Delhi's Bhajanpura area, police said on Thursday.
The victim, Sumit Chaudhary alias Prem, also ran a tour and travel business and was attacked outside his house in Gamri Extension late on Wednesday night, they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Joy Tirkey said Chaudhary was sitting outside his house when he got into a spat with three-four men. The men attacked him with a knife and stabbed him multiple times in the face, neck, chest and abdomen. There were more than 21 stab wounds on his face. (PTI Inputs)

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will today plead for the death penalty for separatist leader Yasin Malik, who was awarded life imprisonment by a trial court in a terror funding case.
Malik was sentenced to life imprisonment by a special NIA court in May last year after he pleaded guilty and did not contest the charges against him.

Two workers at a factory in Maharashtra's Thane district were killed when a heavy boiler being lifted with the help of a crane fell on them, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening at the dyeing unit located in Saravli MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) in Bhiwandi town, an official from Kongaon police station said.
The boiler was being lifted with the help of a crane when it slipped and fell on the workers standing below it, he said. The two workers, Balaram Chowdhari (55) and Pandurang Patil (65), were crushed to death, the official said. (PTI Inputs)
Three persons, including a woman and her minor son, were killed and three others were injured in a lightning strike in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district, police said, PTI reported.
The incident took place in Bhadudih village in Chandil police station area on Wednesday evening when the victims, who were grazing cattle in a field, took shelter under a tarpaulin which was struck by a lightning strike on Wednesday evening, a police officer said.
They were taken to a hospital here and during the course of treatment, a 35-year-old woman and her 10-year-old son and a man, aged around 40, succumbed to their injuries.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday listed for hearing on September 9 Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's petition challenging the summonses issued to him by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with its probe into an excise policy-linked money laundering case.
A bench headed by Justice Prathiba M Singh granted four more weeks to the AAP leader to file a rejoinder to the reply submitted by the ED.
The senior counsel, appearing for Kejriwal, sought more time to file the rejoinder saying there are certain changes in the circumstances and they have not been given a proper legal interview, a plea for which is pending in the high court.

Mihir Shah, the 24-year-old son of a politician accused in a hit-and-run case involving a BMW allegedly being driven by him, and his driver who was in the car at the time of the accident were confronted by police with each other on Wednesday, police said.
Both have confessed their roles in the crime, news agency ANI quoted Mumbai Police as saying.
"Police did a scene recreation in the presence of the accused with a similar sequence of the actual accident night. The scene was recreated from CJ House Worli to Sea Link Worli. The accused while confessing to his crime says that he is repenting for what he has done," Mumbai Police said.

Delhi High Court judge Amit Sharma on Thursday recused himself from hearing a plea by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) seeking death penalty for separatist leader Yasin Malik in a terror funding case.
The matter was listed before a division bench headed by Justice Prathiba M Singh after a change in the roster of judges dealing with such cases.
"List before another bench, of which Justice Sharma is not a member, on August 9," Justice Singh said.

The Supreme Court on Thursday said the pleas related to the controversy-ridden medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024 would be heard on July 18. A bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud noted that the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the prestigious test, have filed their affidavits in compliance with the apex court's July 8 order.

A breach in a canal that supplies water from Haryana to Delhi, led to knee-deep waterlogging in parts of a residential colony in Bawana in Delhi, stranding residents in the houses, police said.

The minister, who visited the site of breached sub branch of the Munak canal that carries Yamuna water, said after the emergency situation passed, an inquiry will be conducted by Delhi and Haryana into the reason behind the damaged portion of the canal.

A landslide obstructed the route to Manimahesh Dal lake in Bharmour area of Chamba district on Thursday. Though Manimahesh Yatra starts from August 17 and stays on till September 15, devotees and tourists take the yatra outside these dates as well.
The administration has asked people not to take the route and has put up information boards on the stretch.

At least three persons were killed and two others went missing after a boat sank in the floodwaters in Assam's Goalpara district on Thursday evening, officials said.
According to a senior police officer, the incident took place at Simlitola in Rongjuli police station area when the boat with around 20 people on board was returning after the cremation of a person in a nearby isolated location.
"There were approximately 20 people on the small boat. It sank due to being overloaded while navigating through flooded areas after the evening cremation," the officer said.
The Supreme Court is set to pronounce its verdict on a petition filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest by the central pobe agency Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy.
