Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh Reacts To Sexual Harassment Claims: "Let Police Probe Complete, I Will Act Accordingly"

Singh urges patience while emphasizing his willingness to take drastic measures if the allegations are proven true, while Olympic medallists consider postponing their medal protest for grievances to be addressed.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the Chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and BJP MP, addressed the media today regarding the sexual harassment allegations against him by women wrestlers. Singh stated that the charges were already being investigated by the Delhi Police and urged patience until the probe was complete.

In a press conference, Singh responded to reporters, saying, "Police is probing the matter. Let it complete. Whatever comes in it, I will act accordingly." He further requested that unnecessary questions not be asked of him, emphasizing the need for a fair investigation.

Singh reiterated his stance that if the allegations were proven true in the Delhi Police probe, he would take drastic measures, stating, "I would hang myself." He claimed that the demands of the protesting wrestlers had been changing since they initiated their protest at Jantar Mantar on January 18. He expressed confusion about the concrete details of the allegations made against him, stating that the wrestlers had not provided a clear statement regarding the incidents.

When questioned about the ongoing criticism against him, Singh responded, "I have nothing to do with who is saying what against me, and reacting to it will not be of any help."

In a separate development, Olympic medallists Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, and Asian Games gold medallist Vinesh Phogat, along with their supporters, had initially intended to throw their medals in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar as a form of protest. However, they decided to postpone their action after khap and farmer leaders requested five days' time to address their grievances.

The Delhi Police has filed two FIRs against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. One FIR is related to allegations by a minor wrestler and has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, while the second FIR pertains to outraging modesty.
