Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in a statement on 'X', emphasized that this decision aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to zero tolerance against terrorism.

The Home Ministry posted on X, "The SIMI has been found involved in fomenting terrorism, disturbing peace and communal harmony to threaten the sovereignty, security and integrity of Bharat."
Home Minister Shah pointed out that SIMI has been identified as actively contributing to terrorism, disturbing peace, and posing a threat to the sovereignty, security, and integrity of the country.
According to a notification issued by the Union Home Ministry, SIMI continues its subversive activities and is in the process of reorganizing its absconding activists.
The group is accused of disrupting the secular fabric of the nation by spreading communal disharmony, promoting anti-national sentiments, and fueling secessionism through support for militancy.
The organisation SIMI was originally banned in 2001 during the tenure of the Atal Bihar Vajpayee government, the ban on SIMI has been renewed every five years since.
