Chaos erupted in the Tripura assembly as five MLAs were suspended by Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen for allegedly disrupting House proceedings during the budget session. The suspended MLAs include Nayan Sarkar from CPI(M), Sudip Roy Barman from Congress, and three legislators from the Tipra Motha party. The suspension prompted opposition parties to stage a walkout in protest against the Speaker's decision.
The controversy began when Tipra Motha MLA Animesh Debbarma sought a discussion on the alleged misconduct of BJP legislator Jadab Lal Nath, who was accused of viewing pornography on his mobile phone during a previous assembly session. Despite Debbarma's attempt to raise the issue through an adjournment motion, the Speaker denied permission and proceeded with the state budget presentation by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy.
In response to the Speaker's decision, Tipra Motha lawmakers, along with CPI(M) and Congress MLAs, expressed their discontent by staging a protest and moving towards the well of the House, disrupting the ongoing budget speech.
Subsequently, opposition members walked out of the assembly in protest against the Speaker's refusal to reconsider the suspension. Although Sen initially indicated a possibility of revising the order, the walkout led to the maintenance of the suspension without revision.
