Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a strategic move to establish 'Chief Minister Model Composite Schools' across 57 districts in the state. Additionally, there are plans to upgrade one composite school in each of the 75 districts to a 'Chief Minister Abhyudaya Composite School.' This decision follows the successful implementation of Atal Residential Schools, aimed at providing quality education to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, according to media reports.
In a recent high-level meeting, Adityanath scrutinized the development plan of 'PM Shri' schools and provided essential guidelines. He emphasized the need to extend well-equipped schools from pre-primary to class 12 in every district. While Atal Residential Schools are already operational in 18 divisions, the focus is now on establishing 'Chief Minister Model Composite Schools' in the remaining 57 districts.
The Chief Minister directed officials to allocate 5-10 acres of land for each 'Chief Minister Model Composite School' and expedite the land marking process. Each class should have a minimum of three sections, and the campus should include residential facilities for the principal, teacher cadre, and other staff. Adityanath outlined the vision for world-class infrastructure, including smart classes, a robotics and machine learning center, science and mathematics laboratories, computer labs, language labs, libraries, playgrounds, open gyms, solar panels, rainwater harvesting units, water plants, mid-day meal kitchens, dining halls, washing areas, handwashing units, fire extinguishing equipment, and online CCTV cameras.
Furthermore, the 'PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India)' scheme, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims for comprehensive improvement in basic education. Under this scheme, 1,725 government schools in Uttar Pradesh have been selected for development. Adityanath instructed officials to complete the necessary construction work for the selected schools by the following December.
Highlighting the 'Chief Minister Abhyudaya Vidyalayas,' Adityanath stressed the importance of Abhyudaya Blocks with essential facilities such as classrooms, mid-day meal sheds, Bal Vatikas, Nutrition Vatikas, security personnel, child-friendly furniture, modular desk benches, Wi-Fi, and CCTV facilities. Additionally, he urged officials to select 75 schools from the existing 24,000 composite schools in the state and upgrade them as 'Chief Minister Abhyudaya Composite Schools' in a phased manner.
