A young woman was allegedly shot dead by two men on a motorcycle in the Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh this morning, NDTV reported.
A video of the woman, who is a college student, lying face down on the ground was being shared on social media, with people questioning the law and order situation in the state, a day after the murder of Atiq Ahmed and his brother.
The Twitter account of Rashtriya Janata Dal too shared the disturbing video and said, "In Uttar Pradesh's Jalaun, two bike-borne youths shot dead a girl student in broad daylight. Will the wolves of Godi media and the BJP celebrate this death too?"
The report by NDTV said that the victim was returning home from the Ram Lakhan Patel Mahavidyalaya in Ait after the exam at around 11 am when two men on a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle approached her with a country-made pistol in hand.
The police registered a case after the student's parents lodged a complaint against Raj Ahirwar. He has been arrested and the police is investigating the case further, according to the report.
