In a statement released to the media by the Dean of Diplomatic Corps, Frank Hans Dannenberg Castellanos said that Sanjay Verma had taken note of the concerns of the Diplomats regarding the current environmental conditions.
"The simultaneous aggregation of these cases has led us to an environmental challenge, which the Government of India is determined to address and ameliorate," Verma assured the dean.
"Numerous emergency steps and prohibitory measures were implemented (in this regard). Several new pro-activeactions are under consideration of the government as we speak," Verma was quoted as saying in the press release.
The Dean, in return, said that he was thankful for MEA's time and effort in addressing the issue.
"We both hope that the outcome of the efforts of both Central and Local Government will bring rapid and positive results, not only for the Diplomats living in India but also for every citizen," he said adding that " we all breathe same air."
Delhi's 'filthy' air forced Costa Rica Ambassador to India, Mariela Cruz Alvarez to move to Bengaluru after she developing respiratory illness in the city. She had called her stay here the 'worst experience of her life'.
