Haryana Violence: Cow Vigilante Bittu Bajrangi Put In 14-Day Judicial Custody

Bittu Bajrangi, a celebrated cow vigilante, is under arrest in connection with communal clashes in Nuh that happened earlier this month, was sent to 14-day judicial custody on Thursday. A senior police officer informed that he was produced in court on Thursday from where he was sent to judicial custody in Neemka jail in Faridabad. 

Bittu Bajrangi aka Raj Kumar was put behind bars on Tuesday, after being arrested from Faridabad post an FIR registered against him by Assistant Superintendent, Usha Kundu, at Nuh’s Sadar Police Station.  According to a Nuh Police spokesperson, they retrieved a total of eight swords from Bajrangi. 

As per the FIR, Bajrangi, had allegedly misbehaved with and threatened ASP Kundu- led police Team, who stopped them from carrying swords, ‘trishuls’ to Nalhar temple. He was later identified through social media posts, along with some of his supporters, yet to be identified. 

Faridabad police arrested the self proclaimed cow vigilante two days after another instance of violence broke out related to the communal clashes, but was later released on bail. He was accused of making inflammatory speeches and brandishing weapons in public. 

"I was on duty with my team 300 metres away from the Nalhar temple. We saw a mob of around 20 people carrying swords and trishuls marching to Nalhar temple. To maintain law and order my team snatched and seized their weapons.” Said ASP Kundu in her complaint. She further added that when the mob was challenged to stop it started raising slogans against the police, "We kept their weapons in our vehicles but they went ahead and squatted in front of vehicles. Soon after they opened the rear gates of our official vehicle and fled with weapons. Bittu and others who had misbehaved with us and threatened to kill us were identified in the footage,” she said.
