Delhi’s Rose Avenue Court has extended juidical custody of AAP leader Manish Sisodia and others in Delhi Excise Policy Case till April 18.
The judicial custody of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia and other arrested accused persons has been extended by Rose Avenue Court till April 18 in Delhi Excise Policy case. The Court made this decision on Saturday, with the next hearing set for April 18.
Sisodia, who is currently in Tihar jail in connection with the excise policy case, was taken to the Rose Avenue Court earlier today.
Sisodia's party colleague Sanjay Singh, a co-accused who was recently granted bail by the Supreme Court in the case, also appeared before the court for the proceedings.
After coming out of the Court, Sanjay Singh said, their “lawyers expressed worry on various issues”.
“I had an appearance before the court today and the next date of hearing has been scheduled for April 18. Our lawyers expressed their worry on various issues,” he said.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as well as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have alleged that irregularities were committed while modifying the Delhi Excise Policy. There are allegations in the case that undue favours were extended to licence holders, licence fee was waived or reduced and licences were extended without the competent authority's approval.
The probe agencies have alleged that the beneficiaries diverted "illegal" gains to the accused officials and made false entries in their books of account to evade detection.
Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26, 2023, for his alleged role in the "scam", while arrested Sisodia in a money-laundering case stemming from the CBI FIR on March 9, 2023.
Sisodia resigned from the Delhi cabinet on February 28, 2023.
