Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10,000 for these families, aiming to aid their recovery as they return to their homes from relief camps.
In a compassionate move, the Delhi government has announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 10,000 for families affected by the recent floods in the city. The decision came after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal personally met with victims to assess the situation and expressed deep concern for their well-being.
The timely financial aid aims to provide immediate assistance to families as they start returning to their homes from relief camps, helping them recover from the devastating impact of the floods. As per the approved Cabinet note, families currently residing in relief camps will be eligible for the ex-gratia amount, subject to verification of their details and genuineness.
The relief will be disbursed through electronic transfers or direct benefit transfers into the bank accounts of the head of each beneficiary family. In cases where beneficiaries don't have bank accounts, the district administration will organize camps to facilitate the account opening process before transferring the relief amount, as reported by PTI.
To ensure authenticity, the verification process will be conducted by respective district administrations, requiring individuals to present identity and address proof documents such as voter ID cards, ration cards, Aadhaar cards, and more. Those producing these documents for the flooded location and locality will be considered genuine beneficiaries.
The authority to sanction the ex-gratia relief will rest with the district magistrate, and for cases where beneficiaries lost their documents due to the floods, the district administration will conduct a field inquiry and submit them for further review.
The relief will also be extended to families affected by the floods residing in inundated areas but not present in the relief camps, following the prevailing policy. Additionally, farmers facing agricultural losses due to the floods will be eligible for ex-gratia relief, subject to the same terms and conditions.
