The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Wikipedia in a defamation suit filed by news agency ANI for alleged defamatory content description of their page on the platform, Bar and Bench reported.
The news agency in its plea before Delhi HC has said the description is defamatory and that Wikipedia selectively allowed edits on its page.

Delhi HC has issued a notice on ANI's plea which sought interim relief in the matter. The case has now been listed for hearing on August 20.
Reportedly, ANI has sought to restrain Wikipedia from publishing content that is allegedly defamatory on the news agency's page on the platform.
In its plea, ANI has also sought the content be removed. Besides, it has sought Rs 2 crore in damages from Wikipedia.
The Wikipedia content allegedly describes ANI as a company with practicing an aggressive model of journalism and even says it does not have a human resource management system.
ANI in its plea before the HC has said the content in the description is defamatory and Wikipedia—an intermediary, is a platform used as public utility and as such cannot behave as a private sector, Live Law reported.
It has also said Wikipedia had closed the ANI page for editing by the news agency except for its own editors, the report mentioned.
In its plea, ANI has said the Wikipedia allegedly published “false and defamatory” content with the “malicious intent” of tarnishing the news agency's reputation, and aimed to discredit its goodwill.
