Delhi Police Conduct Full Dress Rehearsals For G20 Summit

Delhi Police conducted extensive preparations today, showcasing their readiness for the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled for September 9 and 10. In a bid to ensure smooth proceedings during the event, full dress rehearsals took place, featuring convoy movements across various parts of the National Capital. The rehearsals included a flag march in the Jafrabad, Welcome, Dayalpur, and Nand Nagri areas of North East Delhi.

Commuters were urged to stay updated on real-time traffic updates through the 'G-20 Virtual Help Desk' for route recommendations, particularly for travel to and from the airport, railway stations, or bus terminals. The rehearsals were divided into three slots: from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 12.30 p.m. to 4 p.m., with the police emphasizing the use of metro services during these practice sessions.

This isn't the first time such rehearsals have taken place; similar preparations occurred on Saturday as well. The G20 Summit in Delhi is a significant event, set to host leaders and delegates from 40 countries, including the 20 member states. The summit will be held at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre at Pragati Maidan.

In an innovative approach to alleviate concerns about traffic disruptions during the G20 Summit, Delhi Police employed a cinematic touch by sharing an image from the South Indian movie "Don No.1." The image conveyed a clear message: there won't be a lockdown in the national capital during the summit. This reassurance comes amid speculations of a potential lockdown for security purposes.

Delhi Police also established a dedicated helpdesk for citizens to access information about traffic conditions in the National Capital Region during the summit. They officially confirmed that no lockdown will be imposed, encouraging residents to rely on Delhi Metro services for their convenience.
