Delhi Police's Special Cell successfully apprehends two members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, including a juvenile, after thwarting their alleged plan to target a prominent South Delhi hotel, following a brief exchange of gunfire in Vasant Kunj.
In a recent operation, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police successfully apprehended two members of the Lawrence Bishnoi criminal gang, one of whom is a juvenile. The arrest followed a brief exchange of gunfire in the Vasant Kunj area on Friday night. Identified as Anish (23) and a 15-year-old, the duo was taken into custody near Pocket-9 of Vasant Kunj, as reported by PTI.
According to the police, they had received information suggesting that Anish and the juvenile were assigned to carry out a shooting outside a prominent South Delhi hotel, with extortion as the suspected motive. The instructions reportedly came from Amit, currently incarcerated in a Punjab jail, acting on the directives of gangster Anmol Bishnoi. Anmol Bishnoi, a cousin of Lawrence Bishnoi, is believed to be in hiding in Canada, while Lawrence Bishnoi is lodged in Gujarat's Sabarmati jail.
During the operation, the accused fired five rounds, prompting the police to retaliate with two rounds in self-defense. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The police confiscated two pistols, four live cartridges, and a motorcycle as part of the operation.
Anish has a criminal record, being named in six cases involving armed robbery, the Arms Act, and assault. Additionally, the juvenile is implicated in an armed robbery case in Haryana's Rohtak district.
