Javed Mattoo, an A++ category terrorist had a bounty of ₹10 lakh on him.
The Delhi Police's Special Cell announced the arrest of a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist, Javaid Ahmad Matoo, aged 32, wanted in connection with 11 terror attack cases in Jammu and Kashmir. Matoo, a highly brainwashed terrorist with a reward of Rs 10 lakh, was apprehended from Delhi's Nizamuddin area while driving a stolen car, as reported by PTI.
Special Commissioner of Police HGS Dhaliwal termed it a major breakthrough, stating that Matoo is involved in 11 known terror attack cases, including five grenade attacks and the killing of at least five police personnel in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. Dhaliwal revealed Matoo's affiliation with Hizbul Mujahideen and Al Badr and highlighted that dozens of police personnel have been injured in attacks led by him.
Matoo, an "A++" category terrorist, was found with a loaded pistol and an extra magazine upon his arrest. His terrorist activities date back to 2010, where he led a module of six members in Jammu and Kashmir. Dhaliwal noted that Matoo is among the last surviving terrorists in the region, having evaded security agencies by changing his identity.
Abdul Mazid Zargar, an associate of Matoo, is currently in Pakistan and involved in cross-border smuggling. Another associate, Abdul Qayum Nazar, the operational in-charge, was killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. Tariq Ahmed Lone, a Pakistan-trained terrorist, fell to his death when surrounded by security forces, and Imtiyaz Kundu fled to Pakistan in 2016.
Matoo's other associates, Mehraj Halwai and Pakistan-trained terrorist Wasim Guru, were killed in encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. Dhaliwal recounted Matoo's involvement in various attacks, including the killing of a police officer, grenade attacks, and ambushes on security personnel.
Regarding Matoo's family, Dhaliwal declined to share details at the moment. Matoo had recently arrived in Delhi, and as of now, there is no evidence of his involvement in any cases in the national capital.
