As a measure to control the aggravating air pollution, Delhi government had announced an early winter break for schools from November 9 to 18 amid severe air pollution in the national capital.
In light of the slight improvement in the air quality of Delhi and its adjacent areas, the schools will reopen from Monday, November 20. Today, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi improved from 'severe' to 'very poor'. The decision was taken by the Directorate of Education on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) lifted the anti-pollution curbs under Stage-IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi and adjoining areas after the air quality improved.
Further, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras said in their forecast that there is no indication of sharp degradation in the air quality in the city.
The city's 24-hour average AQI, recorded at 4 pm every day, improved from 405 on Friday to 319 on Saturday. It was 419 on Thursday, 401 on Wednesday, 397 on Tuesday, 358 on Monday, 218 on Sunday, 220 on Saturday and 279 on Friday.
Neighbouring Ghaziabad (276), Gurugram (322), Greater Noida (228), Noida (265) and Faridabad (309) also recorded "very poor" air quality.
