The Directorate General of India (DGCA) on Wednesday made a new reimbursement policy for passengers whose seats are downgraded by the airlines.
As per the reimbursement policy, for domestic flyers, 75 per cent of the ticket price including taxes must be refunded.

According to media reports, the DGCA has amended its Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section-3 to allow the passenger, who is downgraded involuntarily and is carried in a class lower than that for which the ticket is purchased, to be reimbursed by the airline.
As per the reimbursement policy, for domestic flyers, 75 per cent of the ticket price including taxes must be refunded.
For international flyers, 30 per cent of the ticket fare including taxes must be refunded for a distance of 1500 km or less, 50 per cent for a distance of 1500 km to 3500 km and 75 per cent for more than 3,500 km.
