With BJP crossing the majority mark in the Odisha Vidhan Sabha Election 2024 Result, the Biju Janta Dal's 24-year rule is set to end. BJP crossed the majority mark and is now set to form the government in Odisha.

The Exit Polls for the Lok Sabha and Assembly Election results had projected a tight fight between the incumbent BJD and BJP. As per the latest trends from the Election Commission of India, the BJP is leading in both races.

And with the start of the counting, the BJD and BJP went back and forth until the Bharatiya Janta Party emerged victorious and crossed the majority mark. Based on the final results for the assembly elections, the BJP crossed the majority mark and won a total of 78 seats.

Whereas, the incumbent Biju Janta Dal won 51 seats. Congress won a total of 14 seats, followed by one win for CPI(M) and three independent wins.

As far as the Odisha Lok Sabha seats are concerned, the BJP swept the state. The incumbent BJD part won zero seats for the Lok Sabha Elections. Of the 21 seats, 20 were won by the Bharatoya Janta Party and one by the Indian National Congress.
