Population crisis is real
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, maintains his unwavering conviction that a population decline is imminent, aligning with his earlier stance. In his most recent X Post (formerly known as Twitter), Musk shared a retweet that highlighted the ongoing occurrence of a population crisis.
Within the X Post, it's highlighted that the United States and Japan have observed a decrease in population, while China, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Italy, and South Korea have all experienced a significant drop in fertility rates.
The X Post goes on to emphasize that a population collapse represents one of the most substantial threats to civilization, a viewpoint that Elon Musk appears to endorse.
Since 2022, Musk has steadfastly held the belief that an impending population collapse is a reality. Just last year, Musk took to Twitter, expressing, "Population collapse due to low birth rates is a much bigger risk to civilization than global warming."
However, demographers have contradicted Musk's assertion, contending that a population collapse is not on the immediate horizon.
Fast-forwarding to 2023, fertility rates have indeed experienced a setback. In South Korea, several cities have taken on the role of "matchmakers," organizing singles events in a bid to stimulate fertility rates.
In China, the fertility rate plummeted to a record low of about 1.09 percent in 2022. Similarly, both Italy and the United Kingdom have witnessed a sharp decline in fertility rates, reaching their lowest levels in the past two decades. Singapore has also faced a precipitous drop in birth rates, hitting a record low as the country recorded merely 36,605 births in 2022.
