The girl was alone in her home in Bhiwandi at the time of the incident.
A 14-year-old girl was found raped and killed by unidentified persons in her house at Bhiwandi near Maharashtra, police said on Friday. This is second such incident in a span of one month where a 17-year-old was gangraped in Bhiwandi at her house under similar circumstances.
A case has been registered under IPC sections 376 (rape) and 302 (murder) at the at the Narpoli police station, police said.
As per the police, the attacker also “forced her head into a tub of water, which probably caused the death,” said the police, as quoted by NDTV.
The girl was alone at her home in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi at the time of the incident on Thursday afternoon, Thane Police PRO Sukhada Narkar said.
Police is yet to come to a conclusion about how many people were involved in the crime. The incident came to light when the victim’s elder sister returned home in the evening, Narkar said.
As per the preliminary investigation, it was observed that the accused entered the house when she was alone and allegedly raped her, police said.
Narrating the investigation, Narkar said that the when victim’s elder sister returned home, she was shocked to see her sibling lying dead. After her parents arrived, they lodged a police complaint.
The body was sent for post-mortem and further investigation is underway, police said.
