At least six children died while twenty others sustained injuries after a bus carrying school children overturned near a village in Haryana's Narnaul on Thursday morning.
According to Kanina DSP Mohinder Singh, the driver of the bus was driving at a high speed due to which the vehicle overturned. Investigation is underway to find out why the school was open on a holiday. After a preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the fitness certificate of the bus had expired six years ago in 2018.

Preliminary reports suggest that the bus overturned while overtaking a vehicle in Kanina town.
As per reports, the bus belonging to GL Public School overturned near Unhani village of Kanina. It was carrying around 40 children and was heading towards the school.
Dr Ravi Kaushik of Nihal hospital in Mahendragarh initially said four students were brought dead and one critical student who was on ventilator succumbed to injuries. Later, the toll climbed to six.
"Four students were brought dead and one critical student who was put on a ventilator passed away at the hospital. Fifteen injured students have been referred to another hospital. SDM and administration present," said Dr Ravi Kaushik.
When asked about what led to the overturning of the school bus, Kanina DSP Mohinder Singh said, "The driver of the bus was driving at a high speed due to which the vehicle overturned. We are investing why the school was open on a holiday (on the occasion of Eid). We will get the medical done of the driver to ascertain whether he was drunk. Strict action will be taken against those responsible for the accident."
Expressing grief over the mishap killing innocent children, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini tweeted, "I am saddened by the school bus accident in Kanina, Mahendragarh. My condolences are with the bereaved families who have lost their innocent children. The local administration is ready to help the injured. I wish all the injured a speedy recovery."
