Opposition leaders are blaming the Haryana government for the clashes in Nuh and the Deputy Chief Minister of the state claimed that the violence could have been prevented if the organisers of the rally had given more information about it for safety purposes.
Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said that the violence in Haryana could have been prevented if the organiser of the rally that came under attack had disclosed more information about the number of people estimated to join it. He said that the culprits will be punished irrespective of their political affiliations.
Meanwhile, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said that the Haryana government lacked the intention to stop the violence and "it is very concerning."
Amid the violence in Haryana, people started calling Nuh - 'mini Pakistan' after a Hindu procession was attacked. Nuh was formerly known as Mewat and Deputy Chief Minister Chutala defended the place citing that in the past the people of Mewat had fought against the Mughals.
According to reports, Chautala said, "People of Mewat fought for the Independence of India. What happened in Nuh on Monday is unprecedented in the history of Haryana and those behind this incident must be identified and punished as per law."
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that there was conspiracy behind the attack which spread out over the last two days.
BSP chief Mayawati referring to the attack on a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession in Nuh, said if the state government was not in a position to provide security to the yatra, it should not have been allowed.
"The state government should make honest efforts to restore peace and harmony in Haryana ... it is the constitutional duty of every government to protect all religions and public property," she told PTI.
Congress leader Kapil Sibal also took to Twitter to talk about the ongoing violence in Haryana, he wrote, "Shops , Mosque torched ; Naib Imam killed, apart from 4 others in Nuh Police allegedly collaborated in violence against women in Manipur Acchhe Din ?"
Sibal also cited the recent firing incident in Jaipur-Mumbai train which was allegedly motivated by religion and the ongoing unrest in Manipur as a culminated reflection of what the ruling party promised in their campaigns back in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections 'acche din'.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan wrote, "Deeply saddened by the distressing communal conflict unravelling in Haryana. The loss of lives and widespread arson are undeniably tragic. Let's unite in upholding communal harmony and swiftly end the violence. Our heartfelt thoughts are with the affected families."
The death toll in the communal violence in Haryana rose to six on Wednesday with the VHP reporting the death of an injured Bajrang Dal activist while many shops and godown were torched in Gurugram which remained on the edge following clashes here and Nuh.
According to the police, vandalism and arson were reported in at least five areas in Gurugram on Tuesday last night.
