HP BJP Claims Sukhu Govt Has Closed 900 Institutions, Submits Memorandum To Governor

In a memorandum sent to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Monday, the Himachal Pradesh BJP protested the alleged closure of several institutions early in the party's rule.

A delegation of the Himachal Pradesh BJP on Monday submitted a memorandum to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla against the alleged closure of various institutions opened during the tenure of the party's erstwhile government.

According to the memorandum, over 900 government institutions opened during the tenure of the BJP have been closed by the Congress dispensation and people are angry about it.

The BJP delegation was led by the Leader of the Opposition in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Jai Ram Thakur and state BJP chief Suresh Kashyap.

Earlier, the BJP took out an 'Aakrosh rally' from the deputy commissioner's office to Naaz.

Addressing the rally, Thakur lashed out at Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, accusing him of closing institutions and offices, and giving cabinet-rank posts to his friends.

"The Sukhu government is not a 'Lok Priya' (popular) government but a 'Lockpriya' government which is closing institutions. This is the first time that an atmosphere of disappointment has been created within three months of the formation of a new government," the BJP leader said.

The government has not even presented its first budget and the public is angry, he said, claiming that not all is well in the Congress dispensation and its MLAs are also speaking against it.

Thakur claimed the government has closed 620 offices, 19 degree colleges, and 286 schools which were opened by the BJP government for the poor and this shows that it is "anti-poor".

Former speaker Vipin Singh Parmar, former minister Suresh Bharadwaj, state BJP general secretary Rakesh Jamwal and other party leaders also participated in the 'Aakrosh rally'.
