IMD Predicts Drizzle For Delhi This Weekend, ‘Yellow Alert’ Continues For Mumbai

Earlier, the ‘yellow’ alert issued by IMD in Mumbai and its neighbouring districts continues until Monday at least amid rain in parts of the city.

The India Meteorological Department(IMD) on Saturday predicted light rain for the national capital—Delhi, while it has also  issued “yellow alert” for Mumbai.

IMD’s weather forecast for the national capital this weekend includes light to moderate rain, strong winds and thundershowers and adjoining areas.

The ‘yellow’ alert issued Thursday in Mumbai and its neighbouring districts continues until Monday (September 18) at least amid rain in parts of the city.

Meanwhile, IMD has said the parts of coastal Karnataka are expected to receive isolated heavy rainfall today.

The Northeastern states are expected to receive rainfall across the coming week, according to the latest IMD bulletin.

Light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and thunderstorm with isolated heavy rainfall activity are very likely over Assam and Meghalaya on Monday and Tuesday (September 18-19). Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are expected to witness occasional rain and thunderstorms from Sunday until Tuesday (September 17-19), IMD said.

East Rajasthan and southwest Madhya Pradesh will also experience isolated heavy showers until Sunday (September 17), according to the IMD.

It added: “There are no significant changes in maximum temperatures likely over most parts of the country during the next five days. The forecast predicts a squally wind speed of 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph.”

The IMD in its bulletin has issued an advisory to the fishermen to not venture into areas adjoining the Westcentral Arabian Sea, the Southeast Bay of Bengal and the north Andaman Sea over the next five days, it said.
