The Income Tax (IT) Department officials on Tuesday visited the offices of BBC in Delhi and Mumbai to carry out 'surveys'. The IT officials' visit comes in the wake of the BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and 2002 Gujarat Riots that criticised Modi and was banned by the Modi government. The documentary has been constantly criticised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The IT officials' visit elicited partisan reactions, with the Opposition criticising it and the ruling party calling it genuine.
