PM Modi's flagship healthcare programme, Ayushman Bharat, covers about 10 crore poor families and entitles them to avail treatment up to Rs 5 lakh at the tertiary level.
The Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Amethi has rubbished Union Minister Smriti Irani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's allegations that a patient was denied treatment though he was carrying the Ayushman Bharat Card and because Rahul Gandhi was one of the trustees of the hospital.
"It is a baseless allegation. We have treated 200 patients under the scheme so far," SM Choudhary, Director, Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, said.
"The concerned patient did not bring the Ayushman Bharat card with him. Under this scheme, a patient cannot be admitted without the card."

Irani, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2014 elections against Rahul, has paid regular visits to Amethi over the last four-and-a-half years and is upbeat about her prospects in 2019.
PM Modi had also kicked up a storm on Saturday in Amethi, launching a sharp attack on Rahul and his father Rajiv Gandhi and said: "You father had died as bhrashtachari number 1."
The Congress and other opposition parties had condemned Modi's comment on the former prime minister. Amethi, along with Raebareli, goes to polls on May 6.
