Amidst Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC)’s sweeping victory in the state elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had promised to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the first cabinet meeting should their government come to power, has won most of the seats where members from the Dalit, refugee communities of the Matua and Namasudras dominate the demography.
