Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday announced that the government will introduce an import embargo on 101 items to boost the indigenisation of defence production in India. The move is in line with PM Modi’s Armanirbhar or Self-reliant India initiative. Lt Gen Subrata Saha (Retd), former Deputy Chief of Army Staff, says this ‘ban on import’ should give a boost to the private sector.
