An encounter between security forces and militants began on Tuesday in Heff Shirmal village of Shopian around 65 km south of Srinagar, police sources said.
Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police were involved in the counter insurgency operation.

Police said a joint team of army and the police’s counter insurgency force Special Operation Group launched operation in the village after having input about presence of militants in the area.
According to locals around three militants are trapped in the area.
On Monday three militants of Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in an encounter with the forces on the outskirts of Charari Sharief town in Budgam district of the central Kashmir.
