Hemant Soren, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief, Monday said the people of Jharkhand have given a clear majority to the JMM, Congress and RJD alliance over the ruling BJP.
Soren is set to helm the government for the second time as he was projected as the CM candidate of the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance.
Hemant Soren, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief, Monday said the people of Jharkhand have given a clear majority to the JMM, Congress and RJD alliance over the ruling BJP.
Soren is set to helm the government for the second time as he was projected as the chief ministerial candidate of the alliance.
He thanked Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and his father and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) president Shibu Soren for the results and said all the opposition partners will meet to "strategize the future course of action".
"The people of Jharkhand have given a clear majority to the JMM, Congress and RJD alliance. A new chapter begins for Jharkhand, which will prove to be a milestone," said Soren, the working president of JMM, in a press conference convened soon after trends showed a clear majority to the opposition alliance.
Soren has dedicated his victory to the people of the state.
JMM had contested in 43 of the total 81 seats and is leading in 29, the Congress is ahead in 14 of the 31 seats that it has fought in and RJD is ahead in one out of the seven seats.
Congress-JMM alliance has hit the majority mark in Jharkhand as per the latest trends, though results for all the seats have not been announced.
Tying up with the Congress helped garner minority votes in the JMM's favour and also added to the mahagathbandhan's overall tally in Jharkhand assembly. He stuck to the demand of 'Jal, Jangal, Zameen', and did not let the BJP's campaign to sidetrack his agenda of local issues.
