Six-Year-Old Loses Newly Adopted Mother In Car Accident In Kerala

While the woman succumbed to her wounds while being rushed to a hospital, the girl, who was thrown off in the mishap, has been admitted to a private hospital with injuries.

A six-year-old girl in Kerala lost her newly adopted mother in a hit-and-run accident on Sunday night after the duo was knocked down by a speeding car, police said on Monday.

46-year-old Sali was hit by a speeding car at Manarcad-Pattithanam bypass near Ettumanoor, Kerala on Sunday night while walking across a zebra crossing carrying the child she had adopted with her husband two weeks ago. 

While the woman succumbed to her wounds while being rushed to a hospital, the girl, who was thrown off in the mishap, has been admitted to a private hospital with injuries.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident to nab the driver who did not stop the car after the incident and fled.      

According to reports, Sali and her husband were childless and the couple adopted the child two weeks ago. Sali along with the girl was returning home after visiting relatives to introduce them to the new member of her family.
