Former Finance Minister senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Wednesday suggested the newly formed Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance in Maharashtra to give precedence to the implementation of common interests of all the parties over individual interests.
"Warm greetings to the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress Coalition government. Please subordinate your individual party interests and work together to implement the common interests of the three parties - farmers' welfare, investment, employment, social justice and women and child welfare," he tweeted.
The former union minister attacked the BJP over the way Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as Maharashtra chief minister, saying it was an "assault" on the office of the President to wake him at 4 am to get the order revoking President's rule signed.
"What will remain in the memory of Constitution Day 2019 is the most egregious violation of the Constitution in Maharashtra between November 23 and November 26, 2019," Chidambaram said in a tweet posted by his family on his behalf.
"It was an assault on the office of Rasthrapathi to wake him up at 4.00 am to sign an order revoking President's Rule. Why could it not have waited until 9.00 am in the morning?" he asked in the tweet.

The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress combine elected Uddhav Thackeray as its nominee for Maharashtra Chief Minister's post, following which their leaders met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and staked claim to form a government of the "Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi".
The leaders submitted a letter claiming support of 166 MLAs to the governor. The governor, in a letter, addressed to Uddhav Thackeray, asked him to submit a "list" of "majority support in the Assembly" by December 3.
