PM Modi Speaks To Putin, Zelenskyy Separately, Gets Invite To Visit Russia, Ukraine After Lok Sabha Polls

PM Modi congratulated Putin on re-election and pledged to deepen India-Russia ties. Both leaders discussed bilateral cooperation and global issues. Later, he spoke with President Zelenskyy, focusing on enhancing India-Ukraine ties and providing humanitarian aid.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday, engaged in significant diplomatic conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In separate conversations, PM Modi extended his congratulations to President Putin on his re-election for another six-year term, emphasizing India's commitment to bolstering the Special & Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia.

He further stated in a post on 'X', " We agreed to work together to further deepen and expand India-Russia Special & Privileged Strategic Partnership in the years ahead."

According to PMO, the two leaders also reviewed progress in various issues of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

PM Modi reaffirmed India's enduring stance on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, emphasising the necessity of dialogue and diplomacy as the path to resolution.

Meanwhile, later in the evening, PM Modi also engaged in a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine.

During the conversation, the leaders explored avenues to bolster the partnership between India and Ukraine across various domains.

Addressing the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Prime Minister reaffirmed India's commitment to a people-centric approach, advocating for dialogue and diplomacy as the optimal path forward.

Further Ukraine President Zelenskyy appreciated India’s continued humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine.

It was also revealed that both President Putin and President Zelenskyy extended invitations to Prime Minister Modi to visit their respective countries after the general elections in India conclude.

They expressed their view of Prime Minister Modi as a "peace-maker" and emphasized their desire for India's continued engagement in resolving the conflict
