“He was depressed and in this state he also watched certain videos about using poison and the razor as tool for the suicide,” a police official told Hindustan times.
The IPS officer was posted as SP City Kanpur East on August 9. Police are investigating what triggered him to attempt suicide.
As per media reports, police had recovered a two-page suicide note from the spot where Das was found unconscious. However, police have denied the claim.
“Das had last interacted with circle officers on patrolling late on Tuesday. At around 4am on Wednesday, his wife, who is a doctor, found him lying in unconscious with froth oozing from his mouth,” ADG Kanpur Zone Avinash Chandra told Times of India.
Meanwhile, his parents who live in Lucknow have reached Kanpur. Das hails from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh.
