External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar affirmed India's readiness to investigate allegations of a plot to murder pro-Khalistan elements in the United States and Canada.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar addressed recent allegations of a plot to murder pro-Khalistan elements in the United States and Canada, emphasizing the distinct nature of the issues. During an event in Bengaluru, Jaishankar clarified that India is open to addressing concerns raised by any country and highlighted the importance of differentiating between the two allegations.
"When Americans brought up that issue, they told us some specific things. What happens in international relations from time to time, such challenges can arise. So we very sincerely have told the Canadians saying that look, it's up to you, I mean your choice whether you would like us to pursue it, further look into it or not," he stated.
The United States had requested India's assistance in a probe related to an alleged plot against Khalistan separatist Gurpatwant Sing Pannun. In response, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed concern about the alleged involvement of a government official, dissociating itself from the plot as it goes against government policy.
Jaishankar also mentioned India's desire for improved relations with China, acknowledging challenges in neighboring relationships. He stated, "I would say each one of our neighbors today actually has a lot of good experiences and a lot of good things to say about India. In China, we would certainly like our relationship to be better than what it is today."
