J&K: Two Militants Killed In Anantnag; 4 Personnel Injured In Srinagar Gunfight; Search Op Underway In Bandipora

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Khanyar area of the city on Saturday morning following inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.

Three major incidents surfaced in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday across districts including the killing of two militants in Anantnag, an encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Khanyar locality of Srinagar where two CRPF jawans and two policemen were injured.

A search operation was also launched by the security personnel in Bandipora after movement of terrorists was observed.

Two Militants Killed In Anantnag

Jammu and Kashmir Police have informed the media that the Indian Army personnel were able to eliminate two militants in Anantnag on Saturday.

The encounter broke out near Halkan Gali in the Shangus-Larnoo area of the south Kashmir district.

Of the two militants killed, one was a foreigner and the other a local. Their group affiliation was yet to be ascertained, the officials said.

The operation is underway and further details were awaited, they said.

Gunfight In Srinagar's Khanyar

Two CRPF jawans and two policemen were injured in an encounter with terrorists in the Khanyar area here on Saturday, officials said.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Khanyar in the morning following inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area, they said.

The search operation turned into an encounter as the terrorists opened fire at the search party, which retaliated, they said.

Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans and two policemen were injured in the exchange of fire. They were taken to the Army's 92 Base Hospital. Their condition is stated to be stable, the officials said.

The operation is underway.

Search Operation Underway In Bandipora

A search operation was launched on Saturday after movement of terrorists was observed in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district, Army said.

The Army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said in the late evening on Friday that troops spotted "suspicious movement" in the general area Panar in north Kashmir's Bandipora.

"On being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire and escaped into the jungle," the Army said.

A search operation is underway in the area, it added.
