Karnataka CM Siddaramiah To Meet PM Modi After His ‘Lack Of Development’ Jibe

PM Narendra Modi had taken a jibe on Karnataka government earlier in the day, saying the state government has admitted that it has no funds for development of Bengaluru.

A few hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a jibe over lack of development in Karnataka, the state’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will meet the former in New Delhi on August 3.

Siddaramaiah will meet Modi and a few Union Ministers in New Delhi on August 3, PTI reported.

This will be his first meeting of Siddaramiah with Modi as CM, after the Congress formed the government in the state under his leadership, following victory in the Assembly polls in May.

Earlier, Modi said: "The Karnataka government has admitted that it has no funds for development of Bengaluru. Similar is the case in Rajasthan where the state is under a huge debt and development projects are stalled.”

Modi was speaking after flagging off two new Pune Metro trains and inaugurating and laying foundation stone of Rs 15,000 crore development projects in Pune.

Modi also said: "Bengaluru is a global investors' centre and IT hub, but the ill-effects of the state government's announcement are seen there in such a short time. If any party, for its selfish interests, empties the state coffers, then people bear the brunt," Modi said.

He added: "We are seeing the same situation in Rajasthan. Development works are at standstill there.”

Siddaramaiah will meet Modi at 11 am on August 3 and hold talks, the Chief Minister's Office said in a statement.

On the same day, he will meet Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, it said.

Also, the Chief Minister along with state Congress leaders and Ministers will be meeting the party leadership in New Delhi on August 2 to strategise on a plan of action for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

AICC President M Mallikarjun Kharge, party leader Rahul Gandhi, General Secretaries K C Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala among others are likely to participate in the meeting in the national capital.
