“Our youngsters and children are learning and setting an example for their generation by actively participating in the relief work at different collection centres,” she said while speaking to Outlook.
Actor Parvathy, who has been actively participating in the relief work in flood-hit Kerala, slammed the Centre for “lack of transparency”, but hailed the Indian Navy, Army, fishermen and youngsters for coming together to help the people affected by the deluge.
“Where it pricks, hurts and bleeds is the lack of transparency of the central government -- of its actions and mostly the lack of it. I know this in my bones, we the people are not going to forget this. Whatever games, politics or rules, it has been exposed and this won’t be forgotten,” Parvathy told Outlook.
She, however, is amazed by the enthusiasm shown by youth at the time of Kerala’s worst crisis.
“Our youngsters and children are learning and setting an example for their generation by actively participating in the relief work at different collection centres,” she said.
As soon as news of the devastating floods and the plight of the stranded came out, 600 odd fishermen immediately turned up with their country and mechanised boats to help rescue those marooned in various parts of the state.
Thousands of people, including women, children and college students are tediously working at various centres across the state free of cost to gather essential materials, including food, medicines, cloths to send to relief camps.
“Scores of citizens are coming together aiding the state government in their commendable efforts in every way possible, especially with manpower and coordination. Above all, the love and the empathy pouring in heal us every minute. We will rebuild our state one day at a time and we have the people of this nation with us. We have a state government committed to its people. That gives me hope,” the actor said.
