In the wake of the recent explosions during a Christian prayer gathering near Kalamassery in Kochi, Kerala Police has taken action against those spreading potentially divisive content on social media. A total of 54 cases have been registered in connection with this issue, as reported by PTI.
The highest number of cases, 26 in total, were filed in Malappuram district, followed by 15 in Ernakulam and five in Thiruvananthapuram. Additionally, Thrissur City and Kottayam each reported two cases, while Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Palakkad, and Kozhikode Rural had one case each.
Authorities have identified multiple fake profiles that have been used to disseminate content capable of inciting communal tensions. The police have reached out to various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, WhatsApp, and others, requesting assistance in tracing the IP addresses associated with these fake profiles. The state's cyber cell is actively engaged in round-the-clock efforts to identify and address such accounts, as mentioned in their official statement.
