"I want to thank the people of Madhya Pradesh for sending more than 9,000 suggestions for our manifesto. Each and every suggestion was important in its own aspect," says Kamal Nath as he releases Congress' manifesto for MP Assembly elections 2023.
The manifesto encompassed Rs 25 lakh health insurance cover for all citizens of MP, 27 per cent reservation for OBCs and to form an IPL team of the state.
The opposition Congress listed 59 promises in its 106-page manifesto, with assurances for all sections of the society, including farmers, women and government employees.
"We will provide health insurance cover of Rs 25 lakh, which also has an accidental cover of Rs 10 lakh, for all the people," Nath said while releasing the manifesto.
Nath also announced waiver of farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh and an assistance of Rs 1,500 per month to women.
He also promised to provide LPG cylinders at Rs 500, make school education free, implementation of the Old Pension Scheme and unemployment allowance for youth ranging from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 per month for two years.
Among other things, conducting a caste census in MP is one of the prominent promises made by Congress.
From the implementation of the old pension scheme (OPS), free electricity up to 100 units to Rs 1,500 month aid for women and a farm loan waiver, providing an LPG cylinder at Rs 500, party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have announced a slew of "guarantees" if Congress wins the elections in the state.
During a rally earlier last week, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had announced scholarships for students, under which Rs 500 will be given for students from classes 1 to 8 per month, Rs 1,000 to students of classes 9 and 10, and Rs 1,500 per month to students of classes 11 and 12.
Polling for 230 seats in MP will be held in a single phase on November 17 and votes will be counted on December 3.
The opposition party has so far announced a list of 144 candidates out of 230 seats.
