In the second such incident this week, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district on Friday.
The accused, identified as 19-year-old Vijay Saket, was arrested on Saturday after the girl's family filed a complaint with the police. He has been booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Earlier on Thursday, a 12-year-old girl was raped in Satna. Two accused in the case were arrested and a court sent them to judicial custody.
In the Friday's case, the girl was alleged raped in the limits of Ramnagar Police Station in Satna, said an official to PTI, adding the accused was arrested on Saturday.
The accused, Vijay Saket (19), caught hold of the girl when she went to answer nature's call in a deserted area on Friday afternoon, Ramnagar police station in-charge Aditya Naryan Dhurve told PTI, quoting the victim's complaint. He added that the accused allegedly threatened to kill the girl and raped her.
The girl got scared and did not inform her family about the incident after returning home, the police official told PTI.
She narrated the ordeal to her family members on Saturday following which a complaint was lodged, said the official.
In the Thursday's case, two men working at the time at a temple trust were arrested. The two were later sacked by the trust and were sent by a court to 14-day judicial custody. The houses of both the accused by the local administration, which said they were built there illegally.
