The state also saw the recovery of 30 patients in the last 24 hours, pushing up their cumulative count to 79,89,095 and leaving the active caseload at 258, the official said. On Thursday, Maharashtra had recorded 48 cases of the respiratory illness, but zero fatality.
Of the two new coronavirus-linked deaths, one was recorded in Satara district and the other in Ratnagiri district, he said.
Mumbai logged 11 new cases, upping the overall tally to 11,55,411, but no death related to the infection was reported in the past 24 hours, said the official. Thus, the fatality count in the metropolis remained unchanged at 19,747.
The state capital also witnessed the recovery of five COVID-19 patients, taking their total count to 11,35,600 and leaving the city with 64 active cases, he said. Maharashtra's coronavirus recovery rate was 98.17 per cent, while the fatality rate stood at 1.82 per cent, the official said.
The Pune administrative circle added 30 cases followed by the Mumbai circle (18), Latur (6), Kolhapur and Nashik circles (three cases each) and Aurangabad, Akola and Nagpur circles (two each), he said. An administrative circle consists of multiple districts.
