Hadma Avlam and his friends were returning on a tractor after collecting wood from a nearby forest when they were allegedly abducted by Naxalites around 8 pm on Monday, according to the police. The victim was then hacked to death, and his corpse was discovered on a field in Turenar, within the Tarrem police station's jurisdiction.
The body was sent for a post-mortem examination and a case was opened in connection with the occurrence.
Bijapur district is among several regions in Chhattisgarh that are affected by Naxalite insurgency. The Naxalite groups are known to operate in the region, and there have been frequent instances of violence and clashes between the Naxalites and security forces.
The incident highlights the issue of violence and unrest caused by the Naxalite insurgency in several parts of India. The government has been trying to address this issue through a combination of security and development interventions.
