The Prime Minister's Office took to Twitter and confirmed that PM Modi would join today’s scheduled programmes in West Bengal via video conference following the death of Hiraben Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was scheduled to inaugurate different development projects in West Bengal on Friday, would do so virtually following the demise of his mother. Modi has now arrived in Ahmedabad Gujarat.
According to sources, quoted by media reports, he will flag off development projects, worth Rs 7,800 crores, as planned via video conference later in the day.

According to an earlier press release by the Centre, Modi was supposed to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple sewerage infrastructure projects worth over Rs 2,550 crore. He would inaugurate Joka-Taratala stretch of Purple Line of Kolkata Metro, launch multiple railway projects and lay the foundation stone of the redevelopment of the New Jalpaiguri railway station. A National Institute of Water and Sanitation named after BJP ideologue Syama Prasad Mookerjee would be inaugurated as well.
Meanwhile, PM Modi’s brother Somabhai Modi and other family members arrived at the residence of Heeraben Modi, who passed away at 99.
